The colours that will define 2021 reflect strength and positivity, according to the experts at Pantone.
For more than 20 years, Pantone’s Colour of the Year has influenced home furnishings, fashion and industrial design and this is only the second time that two shades have been chosen.
This year, the colour experts have selected Ultimate Grey (Pantone 17-5104) and Illuminating Yellow (Pantone 13-0647), which they say make “a marriage of colour conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting”.
Pantone says its colour choice this year expresses a message of happiness supported by fortitude. After a long and difficult 2020, the lemon-yellow shade is bright and optimistic, while the soft grey is practical and solid reflecting steadiness and resilience.
To use the Pantone shades in your home, start with small colourful touches: a sunny yellow cushion, or a soft grey throw. If you love the effect, then you can consider something more substantial – perhaps a grey feature wall or even a bright yellow front door!
