So much time spent at home over the past year and a half has inspired many of us to rethink our interior design.
Whether you’ve decided it’s finally time to tackle the redecorating or completely change the way you use your space, there are plenty of TV shows you can tune into for some top tips – and there’s always the bonus of having a good nose around other people’s homes!
Here are six of our favourites:
Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr – BBC iPlayer
If you missed this earlier in the year, it’s worth catching up and watching a group of aspiring designers compete to win a life-changing design contract. It’s one of those shows where you’ll pick up some really good tips on transforming a room on a budget but will also have you shouting at the telly in disbelief at some of the more outlandish designs.
Dream Home Makeover – Netflix
Follow Studio McGee founders and husband and wife team Shea and Syd as they create a series of dream homes. From budget-friendly transformations to sky’s the limit schemes, this show is packed with handy DIY tips.
Tidying Up with Marie Kondo - Netflix
One of your lockdown resolutions might have been to clear up your clutter. You can’t go wrong with Marie Kondo, the Japanese organising expert who recommends only holding on to something if it really brings you joy.
Grand Designs – All 4
The biggest, longest-running design show of them all, Grand Designs sees Kevin McCloud following some of Britain’s most ambitious self-build projects. It’s become a global phenomenon for good reason.
Amazing Interiors – Netflix
Showcasing incredible design projects from around the world, this show might give you some clever ideas - but it’s more likely to leave you open-mouthed with amazement. Meet the woman who can scuba dive in her living room, the man who’s turned his home into a circus, and the people who have chosen to live in a full-sized dolls’ house.
The Apartment – Netflix
Hailed as TV’s biggest interior design competition show, British homestyle icon Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen rolls up his over-sized sleeves and joins American interior design guru Genevieve Gorder to oversee a collection of amateur designers fighting to win the luxury apartment of their dreams.
